Security Officer of the Year

Security Professionals Site and the International Foundation for Protection Officers are proud to launch the first annual Security Officer of the Year award.

In launching this program, SPS and the IFPO are striving to recognize and reward outstanding performance by Security Professionals. Too often, we receive attention only when something goes wrong. Yet the reality is that each day thousands upon thousands of security personnel go to work and perform above and beyond the call of duty, doing their job with integrity, professionalism and diligence. These individuals selflessly respond to alarms or other calls for assistance. They stand guard against transgressions ranging from property crime to terrorist attacks. Working in sites ranging from office towers to hospitals, sporting events to libraries, and everything in between, security staff share a common willingness and ability to protect people and property whatever the circumstances.

These security professionals deserve to be recognized! We at SPS and the IFPO understand this, and in creating the Security Officer of the Year program, hope to recognize, reward and encourage this sort of outstanding performance and drive.

Prizes for the winner include a $500 cash prize from IFPO, a $100 cash prize from SPS, and a $300 scholarship toward any IFPO educational offering. The winner will also receive a free lifetime membership to SPS, and will be featured on the cover of the January 2006 “Security Magazine.”
